Image tagging

Hey Blackstar1, I noticed you attempted to properly tag an image with licensing information. Just to make things easy for you, You mad? Are you mad? You're mad, aren't you? Getting mad? Mad about what? Overusing this word, mad? Madness? Yes, you are mad. Mad. You're so mad. You're mad if you think Crona is a boy. You're mad if you think Crona is a girl. You're mad if you think Crona is gender-less. You're mad if you think Crona is a futa. You're mad if you think Crona is a hideyoshi. You're mad if you think Crona is a Envy. You're mad if you think Crona is a Crona. You're mad if you ship Crona with anyone. You're mad. And weak. And stupid. Mad, mad, mad, mad. How many times is there mad, on this page? Overused? You mad? Crona is mad. Are you mad? Mad, stop trolling. Manga this, manga that. Mad bitch, you are. Anime this, anime that. Mad bitch, you are. Mad. Mad. Mad. Internet nerds, you mad? This wiki is not taken seriously, mad? Mad? Grammatical and spelling errors are on the wiki. Also, false information. Mad? You're mad if you're still reading this. No, continue reading. Reading? Still? Mad. You're mad. Mad is the best word, mad about it? Error- Mad? Sign on the, mad, madness. Crona is a mad, crazy fucker. Mad? Mad! Mad. Mad?! Mad. Fool, you're mad. Are you mad yet? Fool. Leedle, leedle, leedle, mad. Wiki's are not for the normal people, mad? Mad, mad, mad. Mad fool. RagnarokXCrona. You mad? That is rape, you mad? Crona raped by Ragnarok. Daily and nightly, probably. Those hands in there. Mad? Crona might have been raped in the dark room by Ragnarok. Mad yet? Poor fourteen year old, or fifteen year old. That is the age, mad? I ship Crona's pain; raped by the big, black, perverted man. Cute? You're mad. The mad Excalibur song would fit in here. Math: You + This page = You mad. Crona has male chromosomes and is very feminine in the manga at some points. Mad? Reading this wiki, and you are mad. This is serious, mad talk. "Crona is a boy!!" False, you mad? "Crona is a Crona!!" False, you mad? Go read the manga. It is better than the anime, mad about it? Go watch the anime. It is better than the anime, mad about it? You suck mad sheep. Fool, mad. Mad has been used at least once, on every line of the 'talk' so far. Crona might be a lesbian. Mad about that? Can you deal with it? Crona is not gay. Mad about that? Can you deal with it? Crona might not be interested in anyone in a sexual manner. You mad about it? Crona has wings. Nope, they're Ragnarok's wings. They're mad wings, too. Giriko would love to read this entire 'talk?' He is a rather mad person. Giriko looks like a mad rapist. Saw this 'talk' up with the word mad. Mad will be running through your veins. Wait, mad. You missed a step in the formula. Is this the best mad thing for you to do, right now? The following is mad bullshit. Crona is one of the first reoccurring mad antagonists of the Soul Eater series. The mad child of Medusa Gorgon, Crona is a Demon Sword Master. The mad child's weapon is Ragnarok, who resides permanently within the blood. Despite the fact that mad Ragnarok is very muscular, Crona is very flimsy. Crona was Medusa's first attempt at creating a mad Kishin. Instead of turning into a mad Demon god, Crona instead turned to help Shibusen. Crona is presented with an ambiguous gender throughout the entire mad series. Mad correction here. Read the mad manga. It shows Crona's mad gender. Watch the mad anime. It shows Crona's mad gender. I am the mad. You are the mad. We're all the mad. Yeah. [Mad yet, bro/gurl?] I got mad bored. Mad, this is the final line of text. Kidding. You mad brat. YOLO, mad. You are one mad, high son of a gun if you actually read all this. Mad? Continue. I have mad diarrhea. You know what's mad? You. Hehehe. Aahaha. Hehe. You know what's mad? Teen Stein looks like Soul. You know what's mad? Teen Spirit looks like Maka. Coincidence? I think mad. I mean, not. D-O-MAD-N-E. Mad Finnish. Mad shipping's are the one's that are painful and filled with tough-love. Send the link of this, to your mad friends. They will be mad. Count how many times mad was used. Including that time. Just then. Mad? Twelve. Mad about the real answer? ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jan 18, 2009 @ 04:43 (UTC)

Uhhh... hmmm... Image:Mira Nygus.jpg mind tagging the images with an episode number in the source when you upload. I have HQ raws, it might be good for me to overwrite some images with higher def images. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jan 20, 2009 @ 07:05 (UTC)

Re: The Clown

The Clown's gender is never directly stated or unambiguously referred to, but he does use the first person masculine pronoun Boku (僕). It's very rare for women to use this, but it's not unheard of though. Still, it suggest the Clown is male. --ShounenSuki 23:39, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Episode fixing

I've updated the episode infobox and setup a form for editing it. The episode pages could use updating, so if you're looking for something to do feel free to help.

On an episode page hit the "edit with form" button, move the Wikipedia template into the thin textarea at the top. Move the summary text we get from Wikipedia from the "Article content" box into the "Summary" box (if there is any ==Trivia== section or something leave it behind in the Article content. And finally add {{Episode content}} into the Article content field to mark the page as one needing work.

You can take a look at Episode/List, hit the "refresh" tab to update it beforehand, any episodes missing a summary have not been updated. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jan 25, 2009 @ 11:05 (UTC)

To be honest one of these days I want to replace that with an automatic list. As for Crona and Stein, Stein was introduced as a part of shibusen, and Crona an other, might be good to stick with that. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jan 25, 2009 @ 16:31 (UTC)

Re: Techniques

See w:c:naruto:Jutsu for ideas, as well as Wikipedia:Soul Eater (manga)#Techniques. Information like how techniques are used by meisters and weapons together would be good, as well as a short intro to things like resonance linking to Soul Resonance for full info. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Feb 21, 2009 @ 02:55 (UTC)

Re: Mifune

Mifune's full name is not Yojimbo Mifune. That's another stupid translation by scanalations. It's the same reason why some people think Crona's last name is "Makenshi". "Yojimbo" is the Japanese word for Bodyguard, the scanalations just stupidly didn't bother to translate the word for Bodyguard which was his title. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Feb 21, 2009 @ 19:36 (UTC)

Traditionally with a character like Crona we'd just protect the article. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Mar 29, 2009 @ 20:58 (UTC)

Re: Death Scythe Name

In Japanese, the name of the death scythe is テスカ・トリポカ (Tesuka Toripoka). When put together as one word, this is the Kanafication of the name of the Aztec deity Tezcatlipoca, whose name means something like "smoking mirror". So writing the name of the Death Scythe as Tezca Tlipoca is pretty much correct. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 14:22, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I suppose that's the best we've got. However, please don't do copy & paste moves. That causes trouble that I have to fix. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Apr 11, 2009 @ 20:13 (UTC)

Re: Two Palm Soul Menace - Twin Spears Other Names

Soul Menace itself is an exception. The fan names are extremely different from the official name and there's an extra level of confusion as detailed on the page itself. For the most part other than that there aren't many names which really warrant including the fan names. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) May 10, 2009 @ 19:16 (UTC)

Episode 29, when Stein called up both Harvar and Ox to do battle with Black Star. This is also the episode in which the picture of Ox was taken from LLight 19:34, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Re: Kanji and Romaji Character Names

The character's name is indeed Gopher (ゴフェル, Goferu) and it is quite likely that their name was derived from gopher wood (ゴフェルの木, goferu no ki). --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 00:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Gopher

The only indication of gender I could find was the way Gopher talks. He/she uses ore (俺) as a first-person pronoun, which is practically never used by women. In a few panels Gopher does seem to have breasts, though albeit very small ones. This could easily be because of his shirt, though. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 01:04, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Ice Pillar and/or Icicle Pillars

Your suspicions were correct, Ice Pillar and Icicle Pillars are the same technique. "Ice Pillar" would be the best translation, all things considering. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 16:23, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Spatial Magic

I don't think Spatial Magic needs a page, or at least not yet.--Mr.Zeke 00:01, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Attack Translations

Both of those attacks were named:

  • Ice Bomb is "Ice Shackle Bullet", or "Ice Shackle Shot" (氷枷弾, Hyōkadan);
  • Triple Attack - Big Gift of the Caterpillar is "Successive Palm Soul Menace - Three Extremes "Wèi" "Wú" "Shǔ" " (連掌魂威 参極「魏」「呉」「蜀」, Renshō Kon'i - Sangoku "Gi" "Go" "Shoku"). Gi, Go, and Shoku are the Japanese names for the kingdoms of Wèi, , and Shǔ, respectively. These three kingdoms fought each other over the legitimate succession of the Eastern Han dynasty, which fell in 220CE. This period is now as the "Three Kingdoms period" (220-280 CE). The Japanese name for the Three Kingdoms is Sangoku (三国), a homophone with the "three extremes" part of the technique's name.

Kid's Soul Menace

I re-watched episode 6 and saw an ability of Kid I over looked. The part were he shoots Soul with his soul wavelength, wouldn't that be a type of Soul Menace, or at least the same effects?--Mr.Zeke 21:53, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

OK I understand now. It was pretty weak since Soul recovered real quick and it really isn't a physical attack. So the pink pellets could be considered the same?--Mr.Zeke 21:53, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Sanzu River Shot

It seems to me that they are the same technique. Both techniques are pronounced the same: Sanzu River Shot (サンズリバーショット, Sanzu Ribā Shotto). However, The Sanzu River Shot in chapter 53 is written entirely with kanji (三途川撃), while the Sanzu River Shot from the special chapter only has Sanzu written in kanji (三途リバーショット). This could very likely be simply an æsthetic change, although I could easily see Ōkubo-sensei use the amount of kanji used to write the name to denote the power of the technique. After all, he does seem to love playing with words and kanji.

This is just speculation on my part, though ^^ The important thing here is that the name of the technique is the same. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 23:30, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: Justin Law Age and Nickname

Justin's "nickname" isn't quite a nickname. Maka introduces him as the executioner who appears accompanied by booming sound - Justin Law (爆音と共に現れる処刑人 ジャスティン=ロウ, Bakuon to tomo ni arawareru shokeinin - Jasutin=Rō).

His age is given, though, in a way. The raw says that four years ago, Justin became the youngest Deathscythe in history at the age of 13, making him 17 now. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 08:00, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Blackstar1 - I'm Shawn, a member of the Wikia Entertainment team. I just wanted to drop in on a few of the admins here and mention a few things, and let you know that we've been noticing the growth of this excellent wiki. You guys should all be really proud! If there's anything you need a hand with around here, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. I also wanted to give you a heads-up about some very interesting new promotion ideas in the works. We created a spotlight for the wiki, and the Entertainment Team is talking to some people at Funimation about doing some official sponsorship of the wiki, which is really exciting. Let me know what you think! Shawn (talk) 08:10, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

Character Info. Box

I think another thing that should be included in the info boxes are the lvl. of the characters, such as 1* or 2* or 3*. Also age and whether or not a character is deceased or not should also be put in. --Mr.Zeke 13:20, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Black Blood?

I wanted to know something is the abilitie " Black blood " considered a " Death Sycthe " abilite being Soul Eater, and his meister Maka were able to use it before? I don't really know. ~~ Soul Eater ( Drake )

Re: Ultimo - Character Name

I never read this series, so my translating is pretty much guesswork here.

The surname Kodaira (小平) is a normal Japanese surname meaning something like small plains. The given name is somewhat more difficult and the main reason you asked me about this, I'd guess. ルネ is written as Rune in rōmaji. As you may have guessed, it's not really a common Japanese name. However, since it's written in katakana, it may be the far more common Western name René (or Renée for a girl). I don't know how likely this is, though, since I don't know the character's background. Of course, it could always be a meaningless name, simply chosen for the way it sounds. In that case, it could be transliterated in a dozen way...

I hope I helped you a bit. I'm afraid I simply do not know enough to make any definite statements. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 00:29, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

Re: FUNimation

No, no-one has contacted me. No messages from FUNimation, Wikia staff haven't notified me of anything, and Wikia staff haven't even said anything about someone signing up on the wiki to officially add things. Personally, I removed the video since two videos on the main page feels overboard, only one trailer is really needed, and the later was more of a current DVD promotion than a long term trailer. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 20, 2009 @ 17:54 (UTC)

Re: Attack Translation, Again

The first attack is Saw Foot Third Gear: Tide of Atrocious Killing (鋸脚3速・虐殺風潮, Nokoashi Sansoku: Gyakusatsu Fūchō).

The second attack is Law-Abiding Silver Gun "Radiant" (法を守る銀の銃「放射」, Rō Abaidingu Shirubāgan "Reidianto"). The kanji of this technique would be pronounced as "hō o mamoru gin no jū 'hōsha' ". --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 21:59, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

The first attack isn't actually named in Japanese. Medusa really says "contrary," "opposite" (あべこべ, abekobe), referring to how her attacks can hit Stein, contrary to how Stein's attacks cannot hit her.
The Second attack is Soul Thread Scattered Sutures (魂糸拡散縫合, Konshi Kakusan Hōgō).

Re: Anime/Manga Character Classification

No there isn't a way. It's not really necessary either, the infobox is an aggregation of all the information and can be searched, it's the job of the article content to explain things like restrictions to things, or that things are only known as part of one medium. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Nov 21, 2009 @ 06:53 (UTC)

I was wondering, I never found out, where in the anime does Shinigami call the Vajra weapon's name as 'Bashura'? I was planning on rewatching it and wondered if you sorta remember. I got asked for a citation and would probably put in the episode number and time. Do you think different sub groups might have interpreted it differently? Tyciol 04:35, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Soul Eater 68

Here you go ^^

  1. I would translate this as Heresy Belt (魔道ベルト, Madō Beruto).
  2. This is a bit odd. The Japanese is written as 影星二ノ型[月夜葉] (Shadow Star Second Form - Leaf of the Moonlit Night, Kageboshi Ni no Kata "Tsukiyoha"), which is not the same style as the other techniques of this line. The 'correct' way would be 影☆星・弐ノ型[月夜葉] (Shadow☆Star: Second Form - Leaf of the Moonlit Night, Kage☆Boshi: Ni no Kata "Tsukiyoha").
  3. Insanity Fusion (狂気融合, Kyōki Yūgō) is a good translation.

--ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 02:08, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

I would use the same naming style as the other techniques and clearly note the actual name in the article. I believe it was simply a type-setting error or something. We'll see the actual name in the tankōbon. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 08:22, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
The Japanese uses gender-neutral pronouns.
"I failed again... It's that person's fault. I've been failing continuously since that person arrived..." (「また失敗してしまった... アイツのせいだ アイツが来てから失敗続きだ...」)
Given the context, Gopher is most likely referring to Kid, though. If I'm not mistaken, he already expressed animosity towards Kid before. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 21:35, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Chapter 69

First of all, I would like to apologise. I completely forgot to reply to you. I am truly sorry.

I agree that the Man-Made Clown should be referred to as the Black Clown (黒の道化師, Kuro no Dōkeshi). The other clown is called the Purple-Dyed Clown (紫染の道化師, Shisen no Dokeshi).

The first kanji of the Purple-Dyed Clown's name is indeed the kanji for purple (紫). The second kanji means dye or stain (染). It is also used in words like contagion (伝染, densen; Literally meaning "transmitted 'stain'") and pollution (汚染, osen; Literally meaning "dirty 'stain'"), so it might have some significance. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 01:25, February 19, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Chapter 80

You need to recalibrate your sense of what is a big request and what is not. This most certainly wasn't and you did everything you could to make it even easier for me. I wish all the translation requests I received were like this ^^

  • Siren (誘惑の暗礁, Seirēn). The kanji used are usually pronounced as Yūwaku no Anshō and literally mean "Reef of Temptation".
  • Giant's Razor (巨人の剃刀, Kyojin no Kamisori)
  • Select Gremlins (厳選されたグレムリン, Gensensareta Guremurin; Literally meaning "Carefully Selected Gremlins")
  • Ultros should be Orthrus (オルトロス, Orutorosu)
  • Cyclops (サイクロプス, Saikuropusu)
  • Acquired Art Infinity should be Black Star ☆ Zeroth Form "Masamune" Initiation Technique - Infinity (黒星☆零ノ型「正宗」伝授技 無限, Kuroboshi ☆ Zero no Kata "Masamune" Denjuwaza - Mugen)
  • Hora-Dragon should be Horror Dragon (ホラードラゴン, Horādoragon)

Please feel free to ask me for translations. I may not have been active on this wiki for a while, nor have I really been keeping up to date with the manga, but I still care for the series and would love to help you. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 18:27, November 16, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Chapters 80 & 82

I'm really sorry for replying this late. I completely overlooked your previous message ><

First of all, the 'cool killing intent' bit:

"You bastard..." (テメェ—…, Temē–...)
Death the Kid:
"I want to protect my comrades... I want to save the world... I don't believe I can somehow do this with only neat things..." (仲間を守りたい…世界を救いたい…きれい事だけでどうにかなるとは思っていない…, Nakama o mamoritai... Sekai o sukuitai... Kireigoto dake de dō ni ka naru towa omotte inai...)
"Depending on how you look at it, these feelings could also be seen as madness..." (見方によっては狂気ともとれる感情——…, Mikata ni yotte wa kyōki tomo toreru kanjō——...)
"Right now, what we need to face you is..." (今必要なのは貴様に対する——…, Ima hitsuyō nano wa kisama ni taisuru——...)
'"...nothing more than a 'calm intent to kill'." (〝冷静な殺意〟だけだ, Reiseina satsui' dake da)
"Madness" (発狂, Hakkyō)

I would like to point out that the first madness (狂気, kyōki) mentioned is a different word in Japanese than the second (発狂, hakkyō). Going by kanji, the first could be construed as a 'crazy feeling', while the second would be a 'release of craziness'. I haven't really been keeping up with the manga, so my knowledge might be outdated, but I do believe the kyōki-madness is the one used before in the manga.

Now for the Manticore:

It's name is Manticore (マンティコア, Mantikoa). The strange lettering is indeed rather odd. It's rōmaji with normal Japanese as furigana. The rōmaji says "I chose you" (KIMI NI KIMETA, 君に決めた). The Japanese furigana says "I employ thou" (我は汝に使役する, "Ware wa nanji ni shiekisuru"). Not only is the way of writing odd, the Japanese is odd too. 汝 is an archaic form of 'you' and practically never used nowadays and Noah generally uses 私 (watashi) to refer to himself, rather than 我 (ware), which is also somewhat archaic and formal.
This isn't the only time he uses this form of speech, though. When calling forth his Horror Dragon, he says "I borrow thee!" (我は汝を借する!, Ware wa nanji o shakusuru).

Going over to the Death God Martial Art:

Death God Martial Art - Stance of "Mad Crime" (死神体術「狂罪」の構え, Shishin Taijutsu "Kyōzai" no Kamae).

Next stop, chapter 82:

* Command Cossack (コマンドコッサク, Komando Kossaku)
* Bloody Coat (ブラッディコート, Buraddi Kōto)
* Tsar Pushka (ツァーリ・プーシュカ, Tsāri Pūshuka), or in Russian (as seen on his helmet): Царь пушка.
Fukohadoru (フコハドル) is a case on its own. I have absolutely no idea what it could mean, as my knowledge of Eastern European subjects is rather limited. I could think of a dozen different ways this name could be spelled, as well, so simply googling it is rather difficult. The Japanese simply doesn't appear in a Google search, outside of Soul Eater-related pages. I'll keep on looking, but I hope the manga will clear this up for us.

Re: Chapter 83

I'm sorry I replied so late. I was busy with school ><

  • Feodor (フョードル, Fyōdoru). I can actually see this name being misread as Fukohadoru, if it were written very, very badly.
  • Demon-Repelling Wavelength (退魔の波長, Taima no Hachō).
  • Bloody Lance (ブラッディランス, Buraddi Ransu).
  • Purification (浄化, Jōka).
  • Demon-Repelling Wavelength: Full Release (退魔の波長・全開, Taima no Hachō: Zenkai).
  • Mad Blood (狂血, Kyōketsu).
  • Anya Hepburn (アーニャ・ヘプバーン, Ānya Hepubān).
  • Meme Tatane (多々音めめ, Tatane Meme).
  • Drowsy/Sleepy Fist (睡拳, Suiken). It's definitely a play on Drunken Fist (酔拳, Suiken).

Simple question

How would it be possible to affiliate with Soul Eater Wiki? I have a soul eater RP site and would love to have an affiliation with this site. It would make more love for soul eater and soul eater not and everyone should love these two. If you can help me out or point me to who can I will be very grateful, thank you very much for your time.

ohh okay sorry gues i need to get ahead in the anime sorry man

Thank you. ;)

Do you own or moderate this Wikia?

Re: Infoboxes and Other Issues

I added a checkbox, though right now I don't feel like working on any of the semantic stuff, I just made it list the chapter number if you check off Not!.

For the background I believe Sannse just added that. For the 75 character limit talk to the staff, 75 chars for just about anything is too low so there's a limit in an extension that needs to be upped. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Jun 30, 2011 @ 13:47 (UTC) 13:47, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Previous Chapters

Sorry for my late reply.

  • First up, 'jōma jōma dabarāsa' (ジョーマ・ジョーマ・ダバラーサ) is the reverse of 'witch witch farewell' (魔女・魔女・さらばだ, majō majō saraba da).
  • The 'Eight Warlords' should be the 'Eight Warriors' (八武衆, Hachibushhū), practically the same name as used in chapter 16: 'Eight Death God Warriors' (死神八武衆, Shinigami Hachibushū). Methinks they're the same.
  • 'Great Old Ones' is, well, 'Great Old Ones' (旧支配者, Gurēto Ōrudo Wan). The name is written in kanji that literally mean the 'Old/Former Governors' and are usually pronounced as 'kyūshihaisha'. The furigana say 'Great Old One' (グレート・オールド・ワン, Gurēto Ōrudo Wan), making the classic Japanese mistake of using singular for plural things.
    • The qualities are, in order: 'order' (規律, kiritsu), 'wisdom' (知恵, chie), 'power' (力, chikara), 'anger' (怒り, ikari), and 'fear' (恐怖, kyōfu).
  • The 'Former King of Drawing Anger' is the 'Former Governor that invites people to anger' (人を怒りに誘う旧支配者, hito o ikari ni izanau kyūshihaisha). It's a description, rather than a name. Also, although the kanji are the same as for the Great Old Ones, here the actual pronunciation is used.
  • 'Wings of Light' (光の翼, Hikari no Tsubasa) and 'instant movement' (瞬間移動, shunkan idō), more often translated as simply 'teleportation'.
  • 'Demon Mirror' (魔鏡, Makyō).
  • He does start off with what seems to be "Law Abi—" (ロウ・アバ, Rō Aba) and then goes off into an insane laughter. The best I can transcribe it is: Law Abi-bi-bahahahaha (ロウ・アバババヴァヴァヴァヴァヴァ, Rō Abababavavavavava) or something like that.
  • "After releasing such a heat ray… Even if you make god knows how many clones with diffuse reflection, I can tell the real you from the heat!" (「あれだけの熱線を放った後だ——…いくら乱反射で分身しても本体は熱でわかりますよ」, "Aredake no nessen o hanatta ato da——… Ikura Ranhansha de bunshin shite mo hontai wa netsu de wakarimasu yo")
    • 'Reflections of Yourself' would be clones using diffuse reflection (乱反射で分身, ranhansha de bunshin), which is more of a description than a name.

If there's anything else, don't be afraid to drop me a note ^^ —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:36, July 4, 2011 (UTC)

  • Sea Shepherd Village (シシェパ村, Shishepa-mura). シシェパ is a colloquial abbreviation for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (シーシェパード, Shīshepādo). Quite a dangerous pun to make, especially in Japan.
  • Demon Ballista (魔弩砲, Madohō) Ahab (エイハブ, Eihabu).
  • Young hunter of the village (村の若い職人, Mura no wakai hantā) Heming (ヘミング, Hemingu). The word 'hunter' is written with the kanji for meister (職人, shokunin; Literally meaning "worker").
  • Sky Whale (スカイホエール, Sukai Hoēru).
  • The Abyss of Despair, the Uncleanliness, the Darkness:
    • the abyss of despair (魔剣捺落, Maken Naraku). The kanji literally say 'Demon Sword Naraka, with 'Naraka' being written in uncommon kanji.
    • the uncleanliness (不浄, fujō).
    • the darkness (暗黒, ankoku).
  • Sound Shock (音の衝撃, oto no shōgeki).

Changing shibuzen to "Death Weapon Miester Academy"

Wouldn't it be rational to change the category title and other things from shibuzen to the official translation, "Death Weapon Miester Academy"?

Gopher's Voice Actors?

In the earliest edit of Gopher's article, it shows that you created the page. In it, you put in the names of 2 voice actors for Gopher. One Japanese and one --->English<---. The Japanese, Akira Ishida, and the English, a gentlemen by the name of Chad Cline. Can you verify if Gopher has ever even been in an animation, much less, translated with an English voice actor? And if so, state what animation this is?

Chapter 88

Thanks for the correct translations! =) How do you know that the correct name is Hunting? Every place I saw the title it was different, so I just picked one. SereneChaos 20:52, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Atsushi Ohkubo interview?

Error: String exceeds 75 character limit

What is with the character limit error on this Wiki? Chimera-gui 22:45, September 19, 2011 (UTC)

The problem is xml:lang="ja" in the span, if you remove it, it will display the text normally, I suspect that line of code is for an xml view of the page. SimAnt 22:45, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
If not italics, what font should it be displayed in? Also the other section in which infobox, and an example page with the problem. SimAnt 23:18, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
So, I can just get rid of the spans, if you tell me how you want each line to look. I don't really work with css... SimAnt 23:35, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
mmm, well i can just copy the code over, but the character infobox over there has the same meaning on the same line. SimAnt 23:51, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
Err, was that working before for the other names? Never worked out how to extract the first value into a semantic field on naruto either, i just set em separately from the display, and if they weren't using the template it would work. SimAnt 00:04, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
No problem. SimAnt 00:22, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

If you'd make the translation process any easier, you'd be doing the translating for me ^ω^ —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 13:03, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

  • The Idol of Rage ("憤怒"の偶像, "Funnu" no Gūzō). Although 偶像 can be translated as 'statue', it is generally used to refer specifically to statues created in the image of deities and used for worship. Statues called 'idols' in English.
  • Demon Cannonball (魔砲弾, Mahōdan).
  • Wavelength of Madness (狂気の波長, Kyōki no Hachō).
  • Long-Distance Resonance (遠距離共鳴, Enkyori Kyōmei). 'Long-range' would also be a good translation.
  • I don't think 'ageing monster', or as I'd translate it: 'aged monster' (老いた化物, oita bakemono), is really any special kind of term.
    • Azusa: "Although I cannot see beyond a 50-metre radius around Sid-san — the meister I resonated with and who I am using as an intermediary… I am grateful for receiving the words you said to me." (「私と共鳴している職人さんを媒介とした半径50mまでしか見えませんけど——…そう言っていただけるとありがたいです」, "Watashi to kyōmeishite iru Shido-san o baikai toshita hankei gojū mētoru made shika miemasen kedo——… Sō itte itadakeru to arigatai desu")
    • Text box: [Long-Distance Resonance] An ability peculiar to Azusa. By using something like a phone (or in this case, a radio transceiver) both parties can send their souls back and forth ([遠距離共鳴]電話などで(この場合無線機)互いの魂を通わせる「梓」特有の能力, [Enkyori Kyōmei] Denwa nado de (kono baai musenki) tagai no tamashii o kayowaseru 'Azusa' tokuyū no nōryoku)
    • Azusa: "The signal inside the target room is weak, but there is one witch's soul and one soul of an aged monster…"「目的の部屋の中に反応は弱いですが魔女の魂が一つと老いた化物の魂——…」 ("Mokuteki no heya no naka ni hannō wa yowai desu ga majo no tamashii ga hitotsu to oita bakemono no tamashii——…")
"Furthermore… There is a immensely powerful and tenacious soul, something you should be careful of, please…" (「そして——…気をつけてくださいものすごく強い強靭な魂は一つ—…」, Soshite——… Ki o tsukete kudasai mono sugoku tsuyoi kyōjinna tamashii wa hitotsu—…)
  • Lightning Rope (雷綱, Izuna). Izuna, when written as 飯綱, is the name of a specific kind of kudagitsune. I don't know what it's connection is to this move, though, if it even has one. Pronouncing 雷綱 as 'izuna' is non-standard, though, so I have a feeling there's more to it.
    • Justin: "The Demon Hammer Mjölnir… Flowing electricity into the meister's motor nerves, rapidly increasing the meister's motor skills. The hyper-sensitivity 'Izuna'…?" (「魔鎚ミョルニル—…職人の運動神経に電気を送り職人の運動能力を飛躍的に引き上げる。超神経「雷綱」か…」, "Mattsui Myoruniru—… Shokunin no undō shinkei ni denki o okuri shokunin no undō nōryoku o hiyakuteki ni hikiageru. Chōshinkei 'Izuna' ka…")

Thanks for welcoming me my friend :) Also will they be making new Soul Eater Episodes soon?

Sorry for the Spirit Albarn mistake, I really have no idea what happened, and didn't mean to press the publish button? Anyway, It won't happen again! :) SpiritBomb

  • Union (合体, Gattai). I have to thank you for making me think of Gurren Lagann again ^^ I'm having so much fun rewatching that series~☆
  • Demon Knive (魔ナイフ, Manaifu).
  • One Blade (一本, ippon) and Two Blades (二本, Nihon). 本 here is counter for long, somewhat cylindrical objects like pencils and — in this case — swords. So literally, it would say 'one cylindrical object' and 'two cylindrical objects', but given how weird that looks and the fact that we know what cylindrical objects are meant, a better translation would be 'one blade' and 'two blades', or swords if you like that better.
  • "By merely sticking them into the ground, there's an intimidating feeling coming from all those blades…" (「地面に刺さっているだけで一本一本から威圧感がある—…」, "Jimen ni sasatte iru dake de ippon ippon kara iatsukan ga aru—…"). Intimidating feeling (威圧感, iatsukan).
  • "By attaching her soul to these vast, cobweb-shaped threads, Arachne is guiding souls into madness…" (「アラクネは魂を蜘蛛の巣状に広け糸に掛かった魂を狂気に導く…」, "Arakune wa tamashii o kumo no sujō ni hiroke ito ni kakatta tamashii o kyōki ni michibiku…")
ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 08:28, November 28, 2011 (UTC)
  • "Black☆Star is taking on this irregular sideways stance… It seems like he's taking on that stance in order to be able to cope with the Infinite–One-Sword–style swordsmanship coming from all directions…" (「ブラック☆スターは変則の脇構え…あらゆる方向から来る無限一刀流の太刀筋に対応するための構えだろう…」, "Burakku☆Sutā wa hensoku no wakigamae… Arayuru hōkō kara kuru Mugen Ittōryū no tachisuji ni taiōsuru tame no kamae darō…")
  • Demon Lethal Weapon (魔凶器, Makyōki), to keep it consistent with the other demon tools.
  • Reverse Rotation (逆回転, Gyakukaiten).

Justin Law profile image

Can you please change or allow me to replace Justin's current article image with one of the these two images I've uploaded (Justin's infobox is locked for some reason)? I find them better/more accurate:

I made a mild mistake which I quickly corrected, my apologies for any inconvenience to you.

Your return

Now that you've returned, could you please answer my question regarding Justin Law's profile image?

Re: Re: Justin Law's Profile Image

Thank you for providing me with this website! I intend to use it as a primary source of the images I post and will try to only post the highest quality images that I can locate from now on in order to appeal to the standards you have set for this Wikia. I also apologize for my mass uploads yesterday, as I had intended to use the images as I expanded the Free article, but never got around to doing so.

Finally, I have retrieved a higher quality image of Justin Law from the website you provided me with. The image is identical to my previous "justinprofile.png" image and has already been uploaded. It's name is "HQJustinProfileImage.png". ~~~~. SoulDeathScythe 04:25, January 15, 2012

Djinn Jinn Form

Should we list Djinn's genie form as a technique like the Tower? I ask since he takes the form by resonating with Zubaydah. Chimera-gui 19:02, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

Very well, I have added an illustration to The Tower's page and added an illustration of Zubaydah holding Djinn's lamp form to Djinn's main page as well as spell checking both pages.

"Quote" Sections

Are you in favor of "Quote Sections" being added to character articles? Is it allowed? Quote sections would be the entry of multiple quotes from the character who's article the section is posted in. I've noticed that Asura has had a quote section for quite a while now, and I wanted to double check with you if that is necessarily considered somehow against policies of the Wikia.

This is what is posted on Asura's page:

  • "Nakedness is so wrong!"
  • "I like the "Macho" look."
  • "There's nothing unusual here…The appropriate one stands in the appropriate place after the inappropriate ones have collapsed to the ground, defeated. There is nothing unexpected or odd about it. Because this is reality. Not one shred of uncertainty exists here. Not even fear, of course…"
  • "Everybody huh...then its just like madness."
  • "The root of all fear is imagination."
  • "We were friends once, so let me offer you a piece of advice: You should be careful about hiding behind authority and blinding yourself to the realities of the world, might cause you your life someday ...or somebody else's"

Tsubaki's Page

This page disgusts me. It's a messy shadow of it's previously great form. What are we going to do about it?--MadHatter121 18:06, February 8, 2012 (UTC)

There's a new ability for Deng Dinka and his meister (See and in Chapter 95. But when I try to input the chapter number as 95, the wiki rejects it, saying must be a valid number. Yeah... Do you know any way to get around that? --MadHatter121 20:41, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

"Wizard" Classification

Is it possible for you as an administrator to add the classification of "Wizard" to the wikia? Two (technically 3) characters have been classified as "Witches" when they are actually reffered to as "Wizards" in both official Anime translations and fan-translated Manga. These two (technically 3) characters are Eibon and Noah of course. It's arguable that there may be a specific difference between a "Witch" and a "Wizard" in the series, so I believe that this addition is neccessary. SoulDeathScythe 19:31, February 26, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Mage/Sorcerer/Wizard

If it's the male equivalent of 'witch', I'd say 'warlock' would be the traditional term to use. Etymologically, it might also be a good word to use. 魔道 doesn't necessarily mean 'magic' —that would be 魔法— but refers to many kinds of 'heretical' or otherwise evil arts and practices. The word 'warlock', also had a broader meaning of 'traitor' or 'oath breaker'.

Using 'wizard' is rather Harry-Potterish, methinks, and 'mage' has very strong RPG connotations nowadays. I've always found 'sorcerer' to sound rather bland and it just sounds wrong as the male equivalent to 'witch' when it has its own proper female equivalent in 'sorceress'. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 07:01, February 27, 2012 (UTC)

PNG files

Hey. I've noticed that every time I upload a picture file titled JPEG, you replace it with, well the exact same file under a PNG format. Why are you doing this? --MadHatter121 20:15, February 27, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Volume 21 Translation

here you go ^ω^

  • The Death Scythe in charge of Africa: Dengue Dinga (デング・ディンガ, Dengu Dinga)
    • I think his first name might come from dengue fever (デング熱, dengu netsu). His last name might be from the Odinga family, a famous political family from Kenya.
  • The Death Scythe in charge of West Asia: Djinn Galland (ジン・ガラン, Jin Garan)
    • His first name most likely comes from the Arab djinn, also known in English as genies. His last name is probably taken from Antoine Galland, the first European translator of the famous collection of Middle-Eastern and South-Asian folktales One Thousand and One Nights.
  • The longsword meister (大剣職人, taiken shokunin): Hoshi☆Akane (星☆茜, Hoshi☆Akane).
    • Hoshi means 'star' and Akane is the Japanese word for plants from the Rubia genus, known as 'madder' in English. Is this guy related to Black☆Star?
  • The demon longsword (魔大剣, mataiken): Clay Sizemore (クレイ・サイズモア, Kurei Saizumoa).
    • His name is probably a pun on the claymore (クレイモア, kureimoa), a type of longsword, combined with the English word 'size' or 'scythe', both of which would be saizu (サイズ) in Japanese. Sizemore is also the name of several famous baseball players, baseball being a very popular sport in Japan.
    • Also, note that the word used for 'sword' is ken (剣), which refers to the more Western-style, double-edge swords, rather than the Japanese-style, single-edged swords like katana. Western longswords are generally called rongusōdo (ロングソード) in Japanese, though, whereas Japanese-style longswords are called taitō (大刀). So the word taiken (大剣) is something of a mixture between the two.
  • DWMA Central intelligence Agency (死武専中央情報局, Shibusen Chūō Jōhōkyoku).
    • Chūō Jōhōkyoku (中央情報局) is the Japanese term used for the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). It's rather obvious that's what Ōkubo-sensei was going for here.
  • Moonlight (月光, Gekkō).
  • Rainbow Axe (虹の斧, Niji no Ono).
  • Light Bending (光屈折, Kōkussetsu).
  • Kaguya (迦具夜, Kaguya).
    • This name probably comes from Princess Kaguya (かぐや姫, 赫映姫, Kaguya-hime), the main character from the Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (竹取物語, Taketori Monogatari). This girl came from the Moon, but was raised on Earth. When she returned to the Moon, she left behind her robe as a memento for her parents and was given a feather robe that made her forget all sadness and compassion for the people on Earth. At one point, she also asked for the legendary robe of the fire-rat of China, in return for her hand in marriage. The kanji used in the manga are different from the ones used in the folktale —although nowadays, the name is almost always written in hiragana any way— and are quite hard to translate as a single phrase. The first kanji is purely phonetic and generally used for Buddhist terms, the second kanji means 'tool', and the third means 'night'.
  • Feather Robe of Heaven (天の羽衣, Ama no Hagoromo).
  • The Slaughter Show of the clown White Rabbit (道化師「白兎」の殺戮ショー, Dōkeshi 'Shirousagi' no Satsuriku Shō).
    • As with Moonlight and Kaguya before, White Rabbit is also connected to the Moon. Instead of a man on the Moon, the Japanese (and several other East-Asian cultures) see a rabbit.
  • Zubaidah (ズバイダ, Zubaida).
    • This name most likely comes from Zubaidah bint Ja`far, an Abbasid princess who features heavily in the One Thousand and One Nights.
  • Robe Wall of Heaven (天の衣壁, Ama no Koromoheki).

ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:33, March 3, 2012 (UTC)

  • I don't think デング・ディンガ comes from the Dinka people. Dinka is ディンカ in Japanese, not ディンガ, and Deng is デン, not デング. Also, their average height is reported to be up to 182+ cm, which is still smaller than the average height of Dutch men ^^ (At 175 cm, I oftentimes feel dwarfed ><) At any rate, I have to admit that there I find it difficult to simply disregard the possibility of a connection between the character and the Dinka people.
  • Seeing how his name is quite Japanese, it could very well be that his family name is Hoshi and his given name Akane. However, judging by Black☆Star's name, it could also be that Hoshi☆Akane is his full given name. I wouldn't really make any calls on this, as of yet. How do you treat Tsubaki's and Azusa's names? Those are Japanese, aren't they? Also, as he's related to Black☆Star, I already like him ^^
ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 19:37, March 3, 2012 (UTC)
  • The whole Dengu Dinga is rather vague right now, so perhaps you'd be safer off simply using the rōmaji. For all we know, Ōkubo-sensei was merely going for something vaguely African sounding.
  • You might want to take a closer look to Yumi Azusa and Tsubaki Nakatsukasa as well. With Azusa, you use the Japanese name order, whereas with Tsubaki, the Western order is used.
ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 23:49, March 5, 2012 (UTC)
Just some more possible inspiration for Dengu Dinga's name: Apparently, there is a rain/lightning/storm/fertility god in Dinka mythology called Deng or Denka, whose name is generally rendered as デング in Japanese. I've seen some Japanese people already grabbing this as a possible connection between Dengu Dinga and Pot of Fire and Pot of Thunder. I still say it's all a bit too vague right now and that the Internet is severely lacking when it comes to African culture… —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 07:39, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

Delete a redirect?

Hi there, I'm a new user (to the Soul Eater wiki at least) so I'm not 100% sure of any particular policy or precedent for it, but I wanted to ask if you could delete the Witch redirect so that the Witches article could be moved there. The reason for this (aside from me needing an admin to delete the redirect) is that the singular form is linked far more often than the plural and there is no particular reason to have the article listed at the plural. I know it is for this reason that larger wikis have pages at the singular form of the name. Thanks, I'm looking forwards to editing here more! nayayen★talk 21:05, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Untranslated page

I found this page was not translated for some reason. It had to be divided into three pieces, but it's easy enough to read if you look at it carefully. Excalibur page 1 Excalibur page 2 Excalibur page 3

Do you know anyone who can translate it for us? MadHatter121 22:02, June 13, 2012 (UTC)

You can check out the videos here and embed it yourself or let us know so we can add it for you.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Asura's voice actors

Hi, I just noticed that Asura's page is devoid of the information regarding his voice actors. I wonder why this is. In case you want to input them, then the Japanese voice is done by Toshio Furukawa and the English voice is done by Chris Patton. The information can be found at this link:
