The three-star (三つ星, Mittsu Boshi) rank is considered to be the highest rank attainable within Death Weapon Meister Academy. Meisters recognized as such are referred to as three-star meisters (三つ星職人, mittsu boshi shokunin) while weapons are presumably recognized as three-star weapons (三つ星武器, mittsu boshi buki).

Those who achieve three-star status are typically considered to be among the highest-ranking individuals within Death Weapon Meister Academy's star ranking system, specifically within the E.A.T Class. This elevated rank signifies their notable proficiency in combat, whether utilizing weapons, engaging in unarmed combat, employing unconventional weapons (such as tombstones), or employing a combination of techniques.[1] Advancement to this rank is considered a challenging process that requires a consensus among the faculty members of the E.A.T Class before granting the promotion.[2]
While holding this esteemed rank, individuals may be assigned to undertake highly dangerous missions; however, the specific responsibilities assigned to them vary depending on their respective roles. For instance, students are limited to accessing library materials up to level 2, while instructors can access up to level 3. Additionally, select elite meisters and death's weapons have the privilege of accessing level 4 materials.[3][4][5] Attaining three-star status also grants individuals the opportunity to participate in "A" rank missions and potentially even "S" rank missions, representing the highest threat level within the academy's classification.[3]

- Hero the Brave is the only known student candidate who was chosen to elevate from a one-star to a three-star status through a special promotion, primarily due to his potential as Excalibur's weapon partner. However, he voluntarily relinquished the partnership with Excalibur prior to the completion of the promotion process.[8]
