Name[]
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't his name based off of a character in an African folktale? The person's name was "Kirikou" in that, written the same way in Japanese. In addition, his last name is also of African origin--Lungu. Not "Lunge." Would it be appropriate to change it to match Ohkubo's intention? -Mr. Toto 20:25, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- At the moment the answer is no, althougth due to Ohkubo's current trend of basing names off of exsisting material it could still prove to be his intention. However, we have had no other indication that his name is anything but Kilik Lunge, meaning that at most it was just an intention to base the name rather than it actually be his name. Dantman is collecting the issues in Yen+ which is providing us with more accurate and official translations, so far there has been no mention of any issues surrounding Kilik Lunge or his name but I will keep checking if anything does occur. - I can actually prove a citation where Ohkubo says so for himself. Click here for a link to a recent interview conducted with Ohkubo in France. Someone specifically asks about the character's name, and he says it's based off of the character "Kirikou." Even though "Kilik Lunge" is more popular, I'd have to argue that the latter is likely to be more accurate. -Mr. Toto 22:02, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Althougth the page does mention "Kirikou", the way in which the article is worded it confirms it as a basis but still uses the name Kilik to refer to the character. I understand where you are coming from but as with many other names, just because they have a basis from another source, it doesn't mean they are spelt exactally the same. I would much rather wait for the more official source of the Yen+ volumes before making any edits upon this particular issue. However, for the time being I will insert this information into Kiliks trivia section and if any changes do occur I will happily change the character name. Blackstar1 22:24, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Though I can understand why Kirikou would make sense as the character's name and your arguments here strengthen the argument, exactly what information prompted the page move? I assumed that the new chapter would have the name printed, but it doesn't. - "Kirikou Rung" was used in the official guide book.
