Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. (株式会社スクウェア・エニックス・ホールディングス Kabushiki-gaisha Sukuwea Enikkusu Hōrudingusu?) is a Japanese video game developer, publisher, and distribution company. It was formed as the result of an April 1, 2003, merger between two companies: Square and Enix. Among its publications and productions are Soul Eater and Soul Eater NOT! and their anime adaptations.
Video Games, Online Gaming, and Aracade GamingEdit
It is known for role-playing video game franchises, including Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts role-playing game series.
The company also owns Taito Corporation, known for arcade games such as Space Invaders and Bubble Bobble, and game publisher Eidos Interactive, publisher of video games such as Tomb Raider, Hitman, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, and Thief.
Square Enix publishes video games based on Soul Eater, including Monotone Princess.
Anime and Manga Edit
In addition to publishing and producing Atsushi Ōkubo's Soul Eater and Soul Eater NOT!, as well as publishing his B. Ichi and Fire Brigade of Flames, Gangan also publishes or produces the following manga and anime:

Square Enix has a smartphone subsidiary, HipposLab.
- Atsushi Ōkubo has alluded to Square Enix's headquarters in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, setting his first manga series, B. Ichi, partially in the similarly named Chinjuku, Toykyo, Japon.
- Ōkubo and fellow Gangan mangaka Hiromu Arakawa have created artwork for each other featuring characters from Soul Eater, Soul Eater NOT!, and Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist.
- Soul Eater shares many of the same actors who perform in other anime produced by Square Enix, both in Japan and in English-language North American dubs produced by Funimation, including Black Butler, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Space Dandy.
