Soul Eater Wiki
Policy Page

This page is considered an official policy on the Soul Eaterpedia. It is considered a standard that all editors should follow. Except for minor edits, please make use of the discussion page to propose changes to this policy.

On the Soul Eaterpedia, there may come times when certain users are blocked from the FANDOM site. Blocking is a method used by administrators of the FANDOM site in which are applied to user accounts or IP addresses that disallows them from editing pages. In essence, these blocks are for stoping disruption to the Soul Eaterpedia FANDOM site, not to punish users.

Basic rules

In order to avoid possibilities of being blocked, it is recommended users follow these simple rules:

  1. Keep it civil: Do not make personal attacks on other people. If you need to criticize another user’s argument, do so without attacking them as a person. Do not use bigoted language, including slurs which degrade another person or group of people based on gender, race, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc.
  2. Be a productive member of the wiki: Contribute to the wiki in line with the established processes and conventions. Need help? Ask an administrator! Disrupting the wiki with “edit warring” over differing opinions of a topic with another user or group of users is not productive.
  3. Do not engage in excessive self-promotion: The wiki is a collaborative community resource for the topic at hand. It is NOT a free place to advertise your related website, YouTube channel, blog, social media account, etc. Have a question about whether your link would be welcome? Ask an administrator!
  4. Do not harass other users: If somebody asks you to stop posting certain content on their wall, respect their wishes. It is their wall.

Purpose

The purpose of this blocking policy is to provide transparent and clear rules that can be easily found. On the Soul Eaterpedia FANDOM site, having a community established on the basis of respect is considered an important value.

Common rationales for blocking

Some of the common reasonings for blocking include:

  • vandalism
  • persistent inserting of random gibberish
  • persistent personal attacks
  • personal, professional, or legal threats (including outside the FANDOM site)
  • actions placing users in danger
  • actions that may compromise the safety of children
  • disclosures of others' personal information (whether or not the information is accurate)
  • persistent copyright violations
  • persistent posts of unreferenced, poorly or incorrectly referenced, or potentially defamatory information about living persons
  • an account appearing to have been compromised i.e. there is some reason to believe the account is being used by someone other than the person who registered the account.

Appeals from blocking

Administrators are encouraged to leave blocked users’ walls open on most block instances so that they can appeal their block. There are, of course, exceptions:

  • Spammers
  • Terms of Use violations
  • Major disruption concerns
  • Under-age users

Editors

Editors whom are blocked are encourage to appeal their request by contacting an administrator regarding the reasoning behind their block and work towards a resolution.

Alternatively, editors can make a good faith effort to have that conversation on Community Central. Good faith means giving the admins time to respond. Escalating to staff when you’ve not given the admins a fair amount of time to respond will not be seen as a good faith effort. At least 24 hours is sufficient. Asupport ticket via ZenDesk about a block if you have made a good faith effort to discuss your block with the admins (or can’t) and the block is longer than 2 weeks. If you meet those conditions, we’ll review it. You will be required to submit a link to said discussion.
