Rasputin (ラスプーチン, Rasupūchin) was a Phantom Monk. He was killed by Maka Albarn and Soul Eater as part of their extracirricular activities for their Soul Collection.[1]

Having only appeared for a short time, his personality is not that much known. However, it appears he has pride in his abilities, boasting to Maka and Soul that not even bullets can hurt him.[1]

He takes on the form of a giant figure, easily twice as tall as the average human being and has an even wider girth, with his shoulder area wider than the rest of his body. His arms are long whilst his legs are stubby, and he has large hands. He is dressed in a black monk's habit and beneath it, he seems to wear diamond-patterned stockings. He wears an black ecclesatial hat similar. He has a white beard that ends in the shape of a cross and a string of beads around his neck. His eyes are round and black with white pupils and he has sharp teeth.[1]

Monotone Princess Official Guide

Rasputin is one of the weakest quest enemies within the game. While his HP is superior to Jack the Ripper and on the same level as that of Sonson-J, Sonson-J possess stronger attacks. Furthermore, both Ajarri and Booth, Phantom Monks, are far stronger than Rasputin.[2]

Special AbilitiesEdit

Phantom Monk (怪僧, kaisō; FUNimation "Evil Monk"): As an Phantom Monk, Rasputin has access to some special, physical techniques of unknown origin. Out of all three of the Phantom Monks, however, Rasputin is the weakest and doesn't exhibit all of the special capabilities of a Phantom Monk(The brunt of these abilities is only displayed within his boss fight in Soul Eater: Monotone Princess).[3]

Enhanced Durability: Rasputin claimed that not even bullets have been able to affect him.[1]

Remedial Lessons ArcEdit

The night before their Supplementary Class Lessons Maka and Soul faced off against Rasputin. Maka managed to deal the Evil human a kick that sent him crashing through a church window, slamming him onto the floor inside the building. As Maka readied her next attack, Soul claimed that Rasputin's soul was now his. Despite Rasputin commenting "Don't waste your time!! Not even bullets have any effect on me!!",[4] Maka, being a Scythe Meister, and Soul made quick work of Rasputin, slicing him in half. His soul was then devoured by Soul.[1]

  • Rasputin may have been a reference to the Rasputin who manipulated Tsar Nicholas II because the Bolsheviks tried to kill Rasputin in several ways including being shot several times. Rasputin mentioned that bullets was ineffective against him.
