The Mayan temple is part of series of temple's of the Mayan empire that lasted from about 2000 BC and 1697 AD with being conquered by the Spanish, the Mayan's had already suffered a sharp decline in the 9th century AD following severe environmental degradation, and drought.
It is one of the various locations within Soul Eater that directly comes from the real world.
Location
The location of the Mayan temple from the anime is not revealed, but the Mayan empire spread over southeastern Mexico, all of Guatemala and Belize, and the western portions of Honduras and El Salvador.
History
In the anime, Arachnophobia sets up one of their Madness Relay Points devices in the Mayan temple secretly.[1] Eventually, it is liberated of Arachnophboia's control by DWMA.
