Hand-to-hand combat (体術, Taijutsu) is a physical confrontation between one or more parties and does not involve ranged weapon.[1][2]
Overview[]
Capable users of hand-to-hand combat are able to utilize punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and grappling techniques to physically assault an opponent. Despite the naming, it may also include users of melee weapons.[3]

Martial arts (武道, Budō; also translated as "Martial Way") are codified systems and traditions of combat practices, which are practiced for a variety of reasons: self-defense, competition, physical health and fitness, entertainment, as well as mental, physical, and spiritual development.[4]
