In Soul Eater Not!, Jacqueline appears as young, female adolescent with long, dark-brown hair and brown eyes. Carrying herself more professionally, she wears her long hair long hair into a bun with twintails over her shoulders. She wears a white blouse and a dark gray dress coat and skirt but with a magenta ribbon tie held by a skull-shaped choker.
In Soul Eater, Jacqueline wears similar clothing to Kim Diehl, a sailor fuku school uniform with a short, green, pleated skirt, a lighter-green sweater, and a green collar tied like a necktie, with a Shinigami-esque skull pinned on its left. Jacqueline also wears black leggings. After joining Spartoi, Jacqueline retained a schoolgirl outfit and still wears the same outfit as her partner, only the uniform now consisted of a white blouse with stitches where the buttons should be, attached with a blue, sailor-style collar that is tied in a knot instead of a tie. She wears a short, blue, pleated skirt with white leggings and shoes. Jacqueline also wears an opened long, white, trench coat with the belts left hanging.
In hotter weather, Jacqueline wears looser clothing that leaves her legs and arms exposed, including a blue button short-sleeve shirt with the image of a skull on its pocket and a white collar, and a pair of gray shorts. When cooking, she will wear an apron with frills. When briefly working at Deathbucks Café with fellow residents of the girls' dormitory, she like her female peers wore the cafe's typical waitress uniform. For gym and when around the Academy, Jacqueline wears gym shorts, a t-shirt, and a sports jacket with thigh high socks and sneakers.
When attending the Witch Mass with her meister Kim, Jacqueline wears a dark cloak with a second cloak of lighter color over it. This second cloak has two columns of circles along its front, making her attire resemble her lantern weapon form.
Before partnering with Kim, Jacqueline was initially a serious EAT student, largely committed to following DWMA rules. She seemed stoic in battle, such as in the anime when demonstrating autonomous weapon transformation and flight. Such seriousness was seen by Kim initially as Jacqueline being a "hardnose." Jacqueline is aware that Kim and others may see her as overly serious, although she assures that she is simply focused on upholding responsibilities first before having fun.
When she realizes her interest in partnering with Kim, Jacqueline appears to be a person who is reserved about her feelings and embarrassed when they are recognized by others before she is comfortable expressing them openly.
Despite her awkwardness about her emotion, Jacqueline is caring, serving as a mentor to NOT students, and comes to show herself as compassionate towards her meister Kim. Jacqueline is fully aware that Kim is a witch, attempting to comfort her with friendship and love after learning how she was isolated from the Witch Order due to her lacking instinct for destructive, and how she distanced herself from DWMA classmates out of fear that they would learn she is a witch. Although she is human, Jacqueline remains devoted to Kim, even joining her during Witch Order meetings and willing to run away from the DWMA with her to defect to Arachnophobia. This devotion extends even after Mosquito brainwashed her with the Morality Manipulation Machine, as she was willing to kill Ox Ford and Harvar D. Éclair to prevent them from harming Kim.
Jacqueline can be easily provoked. When brainwashed by Arachnophobia's Morality Manipulation Machine, this anger seems to increase: once Kim was freed from the brainwashing and desired to return to the DWMA, Jacqueline called her a traitor and immediately attempted to attack Ox.
Despite her caring side, Jacqueline, like Kim, is not above taking advantage of others, such as when she and Kim order Hero to buy food for them.
As an EAT student and fellow Demon Weapon, "Jacqueline-senpai" serves as a mentor to the NOT halbred Tsugumi. In the anime, she provided one of the first demonstrations of a weapon functioning independently, which left Tsugumi in admiration of Jacqueline's abilities. She also assists Tsugumi, her meisters, and Kim as a study group before their NOT exams.
Although Jacqueline can be stern in directing Tsugumi and other NOT students, even Kim, to take tasks seriously, such as cleaning the Death City pool. After Jacqueline admonishes the trio and Kim for "playing around" with the hose to dose each other, Tsugumi and Meme apologize and follow her directions towards successful completion of the task.
In return for her guidance, Tsugumi is more than willing to help Jacqueline. Tsugumi was one of the first people to recognize Jacqueline's interest in Kim, as a meister and romantically. Tsugumi went on to assist Jacqueline in courting the Witch of the Girls' Dormitory. Tsugumi taught Jacqueline how to cook omelettes for Kim, staged meetings with Kim to show off Jacqueline's proper hair care, and sought help from Eternal Feather and other residents of the dormitory to learn more about Kim.
Although Jacqueline is further along in her studies at the Academy and more serious than Tsugumi, the two do have similar interests, as both find the Deathbucks Café waitress uniforms to be cute and enjoy wearing them when working at the cafe.
Although Kim is a witch, Jacqueline has exhibited extreme devotion towards her meister. Her loyalty begins by keeping Kim's witch identity secret even before they formally became E.A.T. partners, then when Jacqueline runs away with Kim to join Arachnophobia, hoping that this organization would accept a witch like Kim. Jackie is also protective of her meister: she was quick to respond to save Kim when she was being carried away by Arachnophobia to the Moral Manipulation Machine. Even when Jacqueline was unable to prevent Arachnophobia from brainwashing Kim and herself with the Moral Manipulation Machine, Jacqueline proved her loyalty to Kim in defending her against Ox Ford and Harvar D. Éclair in combat.
Jacqueline's relationship with Kim is one of firm loyalty and a desire to be friends, as well as a potential desire for a romantic relationship. Even after telling herself that her feelings towards Kim were not love, Jacqueline has shown romantic interest towards Kim. Jacqueline attempts to reason that this attraction may be caused by Kim's "boy-ish appearance" but also finding Kim to be "glamorous."
- Demon Lamp (魔角灯, Ma Kakutō): Jacky's weapon form allows her to transform into a Lantern. Her partial transformations allows her to utilize the fire and heat offensively. In her full weapon form, pulling on her chain can allow the using of her flames.
- Change "Pixie" (C H A N G E 「P I X Y」, Chenji "Pikushī"): A weapon transformation that allows Jacky to extend her collapsible bar. This makes her weapon form appear more like a broomstick. In this transformation, she can allow flight with her Meister with great speed depending on the intensity of the flames. A disadvantage of this form, however, is that the Meister is incapable of performing any attacks originating from Jacky's weapon form.
Hand-to-Hand Combat: Jackie has received training from DWMA instructor, Mira Naigus. Her skill level is unknown, though is implied to be lower than that of Patricia Thompson. She was also capable of reading Patty's movement enough to notice her lack of weakening despite Patty having gone through five rounds of sparing matches.
Upon Tsugumi Harudori's entrance into the Death Weapon Meister Academy's girls' dormitory, Jacqueline was a rather proper student who disapproved of Kim Diehl's somewhat lazy nature. Kim saw her as a rather stubborn woman. However, Jacqueline seemed interested in becoming Kim's partner, although it is difficult for her to convey her thoughts to Kim. But Tsugumi promises to help her gain Kim's trust with the help of her friends.
After having a romantic dream about Kim, Jacqueline tried to get to know her with the help of Tsugumi and other dormitory residents. This met very little success: the meal Jacqueline prepared for Kim was ruined by Meme Tatane forgetting to remove eggshells from the omelette, a bathhouse discussion seemed to insult Kim's hair, and overall Kim rebuffed Jacqueline as to straight-laced to be her friend. But by chance, Jacqueline witnessed Kim performing healing magic on a puppy that was injured from falling debris. After learning Kim's story of leaving the Witch Realm because her regenerative magic did not suit the destructive nature of witches, Jacqueline recognized Kim's kindness and promised not to reveal her secret. After this point, Kim and Jacqueline spent more time together, their shared secret forming the basis for an eventual relationship based on trust in each other.
Although spending more time with Jacqueline after her status as a witch was uncovered, after Eternal Feather's attack at the Death Bazaar, Kim suggested the two break up. Kim's decision saddened Jacqueline, compounded when Kim nevertheless seemed to alternate between being close and distant to Jacqueline. While Kim claimed she was acting as such so that Jacqueline would not be manipulated by men with bad intentions, Jacqueline claimed Kim was actually the manipulative one. After this point, the two seemed to renew their partnership as meister and weapon.
During this time, Jacqueline also attempted to learn more about Kim and her status as a witch, such as her age, life expectancy, and animal transformation abilities. While finding Kim's tanuki form to be adorable, Jacqueline was ordered by Misery, who did not recognize the tanuki as Kim, to remove the animal. Jacqueline used this opportunity to leave Kim, in tanuki form, outside of the dormitory so as to be petted and bothered by other dormitory occupants such as Tsugumi Harudori and local Death City residents. When Kim returned late that evening, her hair messed up and her emotions raw from this day-long excursion, Jacqueline realized abandoning Kim made the meister more devoted to the weapon, seeming to improve their partnership.
After the death of Sid Barett, and after Anya Hepburn and Meme Tatane's removal from the DWMA, Jacqueline was ordered by Misery to keep Tsugumi grounded while the N.O.T. weapon recovered from injuries during Meme's defection to Shaula Gorgon. Joined by Kim, Jacqueline checked in on Tsugumi to find the weapon attempting to escape. Realizing that Tsugumi, although only a N.O.T. student, practicing Soul Resonance with Anya so as to sense that meister's emotions, Jacqueline relented on keeping Tsugumi grounded. Persuading Kim to covertly heal Tsugumi's injuries, Jacqueline allowed Tsugumi to leave to find Anya and rescue Meme. When Shaula's possessed students attacked the girls' dormitory, Jacqueline transformed into her weapon form to be wielded by Kim in combat, working with other students and staff to protect the dormitory.
It is anticipated that after the conclusion of Soul Eater Not! that Jacqueline and Kim continued their lessons to become one-star E.A.T. students.
Jacqueline and her meister, Kim along with the other Shibusen students, were sent on a mission to retrieve 'Brew' before Arachnophobia could. Kim's job was to use Jacqueline to send a signal into the sky when the time limit quota was reached, telling the rest of Shibusen forces to retreat. She also helped Ox and Kilik Rung fight off the enemies and Golems present at the center of the island.
After Kim's witch heritage is discovered by Shibusen, she flees with Jacqueline in fear. In reality the school had full intention to hear her out but the two men sent to approach her acted in a too hostile manner, provoking her into running. Kim and her weapon then become allied with the group Arachnophobia, a group that serves the witch Arachne. It was here that they were betrayed and forced to suffer the Morality Manipulation Machine.
During the Shibusen attack on Arachnophobia's base, Kim and Jacqueline are confronted by Ox, who risks his life to break Kim free from the brainwash caused by the machine. Kim, taking advantage of Ox's affections, managed to stab Ox with a knife, causing a deep, bloody wound. It is then that both Kim and Jacqueline begin to assault the injured Ox. Harver would soon find Ox, bloody and on the floor, at the hands of Kim and Jacqueline. Harver, realizing the seriousness of Ox's condition, prepares to battle Kim and Jacqueline. Harver, taking advantage of Kim's physique, changes his hand into the point of his lance form and proceeds to stab Kim, presumably killing her, much to the woe of Ox. Jacqueline, however, shows no sign of remorse over the likely death of Kim. The reason for this was that Kim was actually alive and used her witch powers to heal the fatal wound. Kim gets up and proceeds to battle Ox and Harver once more.
It is when Ox breaks his antenna-like hairstyle—which he openly states is intentional—that he gets through to her, offering to create a place where she can go. She now seems to reciprocate Ox's feelings. Jackie, displeased with the situation, calls Kim a traitor and proceeds to attack Ox. Harver, now in his human form, appears behind Jackie and shocks her on her neck, knocking her out instantly.
Jackie is seen conscious and back into her senses when the group locates Kilik Rung and aids in his battle. But, before they could proceed any further, the group was severely affected by Arachne's insanity, which had spread throughout the castle. Thanks to the actions of Maka and Soul, they were saved and able to aid in the conclusion of the assault.
Tying Things Up, and New BeginningsEdit
Jacqueline is seen in Shinigami's room alongside Kim, Tsubaki, and Angela. Sid and Death discuss the issue of what they should do with the two witches. Sid notes that Kim's regeneration magic is in conflict with the natural destructive magic, known as the witches’ sway of magic and is unlikely to be influenced; and that Angela is still too young for the sway of magic to have taken any hold, but it is no guarantee that she will not become a threat as she grows older. Horrified by this, Kim proposes that, if she were to periodically expose Angela to her regenerative magic, she might be able to suppress Angela's destructive instincts. She also proposes that, if that does not work, there is the option of using the Moral Manipulation Machine, brought back from Baba Yaga's Castle, on Angela.
Without much thought, Death agrees to let Angela stay.
Jackie is seen watching the sparring match between Patty and Kim. She astonished at the fact that Patty can have five matches in a row with no sign of dulled movements. Jackie, along with her partner, is seen to have become a part of the new Shibusen Elite Unit "Spartoi".
I'm Going to be an AngelEdit
Jackie is seen in her weapon form, flying with her meister, Kim. This was done in front of Maka and Soul so they can hopefully glean enough information on how to fly themselves. Once the representation is completed, Kim and Jackie both witness Maka and Soul's first attempts at flying, which fails miserable when they spiral out of control and land on the ground.
Battle on the Moon Edit
When Death ordered the assassination of Crona, Jacqueline along with Kim expressed disagreement with such orders, especially in light of the persecution Kim has faced as a witch and their own temporary defection from the DWMA for Arachnophobia.
Upon returning from one mission, Jacqueline joined Kim in the DWMA shower to clean up—then were interrupted by Death the Kid, who entered girls' showers, embarrassing Jacqueline as well as Kim as the two were nude.
After Kim's return from the Witches' Realm to recruit witches as allies in the fight against Asura, Jacqueline joined Kim on the Moon to battle the Kishin's forces.
Following the defeat of Asura, now imprisoned on the Moon under a barrier of Black Blood, Jacqueline joined her fellow members of Spartoi to celebrate Kid's ascension as the next full shinigami.
