Chupa♡Cabra's Sign

The sign that hangs over Chupa♡Cabra's in the anime

Chupa♡Cabra's (チュパキャブラス Chupa Kyaburasu in Japanese) is a cabaret club located deep within Death City, and a club that Spirit often visits. It is a cabaret club like no other, as it turns out that it is run by Witches.

Location

Located in Death City, it is a club located on the eighth district in a part called B Block.

Appearance

The club itself is a rather small and plain building, with the exception of an enormous and highly adorned sign set above the entirety of the club's front, easily equalling the structure in size, bearing the club's name in enormous Japanese katakana letters and adorned with hearts and lights that are turned on at night.

Inside

The interior consists of an enclosed bar, surrounded by multiple stools and a separate payment area along one wall and many partitioned sections, containing individual small couches and rounded glass tables, opposite. The decour inside is furnished with a predominantly pink coloring, featuring numerous pieces that are lavishly accented with golden trim, which also generally conform to a heart theme that is displayed throughout, even appearing on the front door in the form of a heart-shaped window. The club is lit by a great number of candles, that are both present on the many tables and built in along some of the walls. There is also a separate changing locker area for the main female staff.

Staff

You won't find a cabaret club with Witches anywhere else.

Risa and Arisa, Chapter 69

Along with the bartender, a smartly-dressed man with a moustache, the main staff and attraction of the club are the three females known as the 'Cabaret Ladies: The Chupa♡Girls' (キャバ嬢 チュパ♡GIRLS Kyabajou Chupa GIRLS) consisting of the Witches Risa and Arisa along with the newest club employee, Blair. Although Risa and Arisa originally set up the club in order to spy for Arachnophobia, after they were apprehended, Shinigami struck a deal with them to help save his son, Death the Kid from the Book of Eibon. If they succeeded, they would be allowed to start working in the club again, although their freedom would still be restricted. Since then, they seem to be fully accepted into Death City and the DWMA, and have developed the means of fighting fire with fire, as the Witches aid Shibusen with their magic.

Business

Normally, the club is free to be visited by people, but occasionally, the staff can be hired to go on a business trip to hold functions at other places, in the case with Shinigami (although it was actually Spirit who organized it).

Audience

The most frequent visitor to the club is Spirit, who is well known to the staff. Although previously visiting there to see Risa and Arisa, recently he spends a lot of time talking to Blair, typically over issues concerning his wife and daughter. Although initially for adults, the three had recently advertised itself to Shibusen students, much to Marie's chagrin.

Part in the Story

Chupa♡Cabra's is frequently used as a visiting place by Spirit, and is used as a cover by Risa and Arisa as a means to spy on Shibusen for Arachnophobia. However, after being apprehended, the Witches still seem to continue their business in the cabaret club.

Trivia

  • The name "Chupa♡Cabra's" is a reference to the Chupacabra a mythical beast that supposedly sucks on the blood of goats and other small livestock. The word literally means 'goat sucker.' The club's name was probably suggested as the beast's name pronounced in Japanese sounds similar to the Japanese pronunciation of 'Cabaret Club' in compounded form (キャバクラ 'Kyabakura and チュパキャブラス Chupa kyaburasu).
  • In the anime; the sign upon the exterior of the club only displays it's name, however, in the first chapter of the manga the image of a scantily clad woman is also present. After that, the sign in the manga changes to be identical to the sign used in the anime.
