Brina Michelle Palencia is a United States actress, singer, and ADR director for Bang Zoom! Entertainment, Funimation, and Christopher Sabat's OkraTron 5000. She has acted in numerous video games and in English versions of Japanese anime series. She is the English voice of Azusa Yumi in the anime Soul Eater.

Early LifeEdit

Palencia was born and raised in Oklahoma.[3] As a child, Palencia lived in Honduras[4][5] until she was 4. Throughout her childhood she went back and forth between La Ceiba, Honduras, and Owasso, Oklahoma.[1][2] Palencia eventually settled in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 2002.[4] While studying at the University of North Texas, she was influenced by the anime series, Dragon Ball Z.[1] She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2006.[3][6]


Palencia began her career as a voice actress and ADR director for Funimation.[1][2] She has frequently played children, younger characters, and youthful characters, including Nina Tucker in Fullmetal Alchemist, Ciel Phantomhive in Black Butler, Tony Tony Chopper in One Piece, and Natsuki Shinohara in the Oscar-nominated film Summer Wars. She also portrays Vi Graythorn in Detective Conan (dubbed as Case Closed), Rei Ayanami in Rebuild of Evangelion, Holo in Spice and Wolf, and Ryoko Okami in Ōkami-san and Her Seven Companions. As a singer, Palencia also directs English versions of songs for numerous Funimation anime.

She has acted in numerous video games, including Borderlands, Final Fantasy, Duke Nukem, and Donkey Kong Country Returns. She also has sung for the video game series Guitar Hero.

Palencia also has acted in numerous films, television series, and web series, including Castle and The Walking Dead. She also was a host for GameStopTV.

Personal LifeEdit

Her brother, Gino Palencia, works at Funimation as an ADR engineer and production assistant. He was ADR engineer for both Soul Eater and Soul Eater NOT! and provided additional voices in Soul Eater.

Palencia's husband is an attorney.[7]

Palencia voices Azusa Yumi, the Death Weapon of East Asia and Oceania in the first Soul Eater anime series. Palencia is currently the only English voice actor for Azusa.
